We look forward to meeting you and doing all we can to ensure you have all of theinformation necessary before starting treatment. After a screenng x-ray, the doctor will do a full exam and explain all of the findings relevant to orthodontics. In addition, the doctor will go over any treatment that is needed and give you time to ask questions. This exam takes approximately 30 minutes and is complimentary (no charge). Our goal is make sure you understand the current orthodontic concerns as well as what to expect in the future. In order to be as efficient with your time as possible, we may reserve time after the exam to take full diagnostic records. These consist of additional x-rays, photos, and impressions for study models. This will take about 30 minutes to complete.
While you might have specific questions,we fubd that there are some concerns that all patients and parents would like addressed. In addition to the following questions, we encourage you to let us know if there is anything else we can explain to help you through the process.
- Are there any issues/concerns that orthodontics can address?
- Is the timing right to begin treatment, or should you wait for addtional growth or eruption of teeth?
- What treatment modalities will best address the problem? This might be a retainer or similar appliance, as not all problems require braces?
- Will permanent teeth need to be removed to resolve crowding or severely malpositioned teeth?
- How long will treatment take?
- What is the cost and are there any payment plans?
We will be happy to explain how various orthodontic appliances work and can visually show you through computer animaions how treatment will progress.
